Charter a Yacht in Italy and explore Naples, Ischia, Ponza, Capri, Amalfi, Positano

The Amalfi Coast is one of the top charter areas in Italy and worth visiting at least once in your lifetime. It’s a region with incredible natural beauty and rich history, offering plenty to do for both adults and children alike. The Amalfi Coast is often referred to as the “Divine Coast,” appealing to royalty, celebrities, and lovers of luxury, so if that sounds like your kind of relaxation, you’ll want to seriously consider taking a luxury yacht charter there.

This proposed route begins and ends in Naples after visiting some of the most charming coastal areas on offer, including the stunning medieval beauty of Ischia island, the Grottos of Ponza, and the cosmopolitan charm of Capri, Amalfi, and Positano, each one uniquely special.

The surrounding streets are lined with restaurants serving up delicious Neapolitan pizza and fresh seafood dishes. An excellent start to the journey for visitors that choose to arrive early and indulge in some sightseeing before beginning our yacht journey.

Yacht Charter Day 1 – Naples to Ischia

After sailing through the Bay of Naples, we reach the largest and most developed of the islands, Ischia. Home to thermal baths, historical ruins from Roman times, and dream-like beaches, Ischia has managed to retain its charm despite its rising popularity. It enjoys mild Mediterranean weather throughout much of the year, which makes it ideal for all kinds of outdoor activities such as hiking, swimming, and biking, among others. Nevertheless, the coast, characterized by long sandy beaches and warm shallow waters, will captivate all visitors and is perfectly suited to families traveling with children.

Do not miss a private tour through Ischia’s wineries and vineyards with a specialized guide. The island is also home to an active volcano “Mount Epomeo” which makes for an incredible backdrop as you watch the sunset over the water at night. Standing 789 meters above the water, you may also wish to hike to the top for sprawling views of the island below.

Sailing in Ischia – important information:

Yacht Charter Day 2 – Ischia to Ponza

Ponza is a tiny island off the coast of Italy, less known than other places in the region and once a place of exile for Roman noblewomen. But what it lacks in fame, it makes up for in charm, especially for those wishing to experience white-sand beaches and rocky cliffs that reach up out of the sea. Yacht charters are at a direct advantage here since most beaches in Ponza can only be reached by water. The island’s most famous beach is Chiaia di Luna, which features a rocky cove with crystal-clear water that looks like liquid glass. For those that can will themselves away from the coast, a visit to Chiesa dei Santi Silverio e Domitilla, a beautiful church, is well worth a visit. Fresh seafood abounds on the island, and there is no better place to enjoy authentic, refined tastes than Acqua Pazza, the island’s only Michelin-star restaurant.

Sailing in Ponza – important information:

  • Porto di Ponza is the main harbour on the island, often busy with the vessels of locals during the summer months.

Sailing in Ponza – don’t miss:

  • Dining in Acqua Pazza
  • Strolling the streets (Ponza is often described as Capri without the tourists)

Yacht Charter Day 3 – Ponza to Capri

Capri has long been considered the jewel of the Tyrrhenian Sea, with its rugged terrain and luxurious aesthetic everywhere you turn to look. A sight to behold whether you are on water or venture ashore, this is a destination that visitors dream about for years and never fails to captivate the hearts of those that come to explore. Luxury abounds at every corner, and it is not unlikely for visitors to run into the super-rich and famous, who rightly opt to stay on the water until sunset time. The Roman emperor Tiberius famously fell in love with the island, so much so that he refused to return to Rome and constructed 12 villas on the island, which served as his own personal retreat. Among the famous landmarks to visit and behold here are the world-famous Blue Grotto, the Villa San Michele, and the highest point on the island, Monte Solaro.

Yacht Charter Day 4 – Capri to Amalfi

No yacht charter itinerary on the Amalfi Coast would be complete without a stop at Amalfi itself. This seaside resort town lies at the foot of Monte Cerreto and has been inhabited since ancient times. Unknown to most visitors, most of the ground that once made up this beautiful city fell to the bottom of the ocean after a massive earthquake in 1343. During its long history, Amalfi boasted a powerful military fleet and was also a significant commercial port during the Byzantine years, with trade routes to Asia. Elegantly imposing, Amalfi is characterized by the burst of colorful houses perched on the side of its majestic cliffs. When you visit Amalfi, you’ll find yourself immersed in a world of luxury and elegance, where limoncello flows like water, and the food makes your mouth water with every bite. The Amalfi Coast is about indulging in the best things in life—and that’s why people love it so much!

Sailing in Amalfi – important information:

  • The port is intensely crowded and uncomfortable in strong winds
  • The ‘Marina Coppola’ pontoons are another option for visitors that also provide mooring assistance

Yacht Charter Day 5 – Amalfi to Positano

From Amalfi, you will hug the curves of the Amalfi Coast once again, heading back towards charming Positano. Once again, the architecture has adapted to fit the particular landscape, with the picturesque houses and luxurious cliffsides villas being the most prominent features to notice upon arrival. Compared to other destinations on the Amalfi Coast, Positano has a more sophisticated nightlife scene that suits visitors wishing to relax rather than party, even though both options are within reach. The countless beaches, coves, and secluded spots will delight visitors, especially when enjoyed from the sundeck of your own private yacht charter.

Sailing in Positano – important information:

  • There are only buoy mooring spots available in Positano with 24 tender services
  • Not a lot of protection from the swell

Sailing in Positano – don’t miss:
