Motor Yachts

Dotted along the Amalfi coast, the towns of Positano, Sorrento, Ravello and Capri Island are located in close proximity to one another, making them easy to incorporate into a complete charter itinerary. Known for its steep cliffs and picture-perfect towns, the Amalfi Coast sits in the Campania region of Italy bordered by the Tyrrhenian sea. It is shouldered by the Bay of Naples to the north and the Salerno Gulf to the south. Also known as the Sorrentine Peninsula, the region covers around 50 kilometres of coast, best explored by a motor boat yacht charter.

Unlike other charter destinations, such as leeward islands in the Caribbean, the Amalfi coast has no hurricane season. So, you can plan an Amalfi coast yacht charter all year round.

Why charter a motor yacht to cruise the Amalfi coast?

Since the Amalfi Coast has limited on-land routes, a luxury motor yacht charter is the ultimate way to fall in love with this stunning slice of West Italy in the high season. The region is perennially one of the most popular cruising regions throughout the summer months and beyond.

Sometimes referred to as the Sorrentine Peninsula, the Amalfi Coast attracts motor yachts of all sizes for luxury yacht charters. The Tyrrhenian waters are deep, so you don’t need to worry about chartering a yacht with a shallow draft. However, you will need to consider that there are not that many anchorages further away from the coastline because of the depth of the ocean.

Amalfi coast yacht charters offer so many options for yacht rentals that you will find the perfect yacht no matter how crazy the requirements are. Charter guests can rent a motor yacht, sailing yacht, catamaran, power catamaran, and monohull. A crewed yacht charter has various options with licensed skippers and trained crew members. Also, if you are coming with a large group but would like to travel with a motor yacht for speed, there are motor yachts like BLUE HEAVEN 2, OCEAN VIEW, and more that can house over 10 guests.

Marinas on the Amalfi Coast for Motor Yacht Charter

There are several marinas in and around the Amalfi Coast which cater to luxury motor yachts. The largest and most popular destination is Naples, where most Amalfi Coast yacht charters begin.  In and around Napoli, there are several ports to choose from; Porto Marina di Cassano is ideal for yachts measuring up to 56m, and there are a total of 180 berths available.

For superyachts, Marina de Stabia caters to yachts measuring up to 100m, and Stabia Main Port has the capacity to host megayachts measuring over 200m.

Along the Amalfi Coast, many larger motor yachts may not be able to find a berth and will have to drop anchor out at sea and take a tender to shore. Luckily, this area of Italy enjoys relatively few winds, so you will enjoy a calm and peaceful experience while at anchor.

The first stop on Amalfi Coast yacht vacation is often Sorrento, and Marina Piccola Sorrento has 300 berths which have a maximum capacity of 40m.

In Positano, the Grassi Junior marina features 30 berths for yachts measuring a maximum length of 30m. Those looking to visit the town of Amalfi can berth in Porto di Amalfi Coppola, where there are 90 berths which cater to yachts measuring up to 35m in length.

Motor yachts visiting Capri can berth in Marina di Capri; however, of the 300 berths available, only 10 cater to yachts measuring over 60 metres.

Over in Salerno, to the east of the Amalfi Coast, motor yachts of a larger size can easily berth in Marina d’Arechi, where there are 1000 berths that accommodate yachts with a maximum length of 130m.

Many charterers choose to begin and end their Amalfi Coast yachting vacation in Naples, but the region is situated in close proximity to Sardinia, Sicily, the Italian Riviera and the superyacht hubs of the South of France and Monaco.

Top Tips for Luxury Motor Yacht Charters on Amalfi Coast

  • Summer months (April-October) are the high season for Amalfi coast yacht charters as guests can enjoy water sports at 25C to 32C.
  • Luxury yachts give the charterers the freedom of water activities such as diving and snorkelling. Some yacht charters even have scuba diving equipment on board. You can scuba dive or snorkel at La Conca del Sogno and see octopuses and other sea creatures.
  • Motor yacht charter price varies per week depending on the amenities and customizations. For instance, a motor yacht like Lady Amanda has a jet ski and a hot tub on board and will have a higher weekly price point.
  • If you have a specific luxury yacht charter in your mind, ensure it is available all year round at the Amalfi coast. Some yachts, such as the Heerlijckheid, operate at the Amalfi during summer only.

Top Destination for Amalfi Coast yacht charter

The Blue Grotto – It is rightly regarded as one of the most spectacular sea caves in the Mediterranean and is a sight not to be missed. The best time to visit is between noon and 2 pm when the light entering the cave is at its strongest and the color of the water is most vibrant.

The Faraglioni Rocks – Set of three towering rock formations located off the coast of Capri, Italy. These majestic limestones rise from the sparkling waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea and are an iconic symbol of enduring romance.

The Sirenuses – Set adrift from the picture-perfect town of Positano, La Sirenuses are scattered in the Mediterranean sea like jewels. The archipelago gets its name from being the mythical (in Homer’s Odyssey) setting of sirens, who enticed sailors onto the rocks with their sweet songs.

Villa Lysis – Villa Lysis is noted for its distinctive mix of architectural styles, which borrow inspiration from Art Nouveau themes and embodies an overarching Neoclassical decadence. The grounds of the villa are lavish and peppered with delicate statuettes.
